Snow flurries possible for Tri-Cities. Then comes the rain

A 30 percent chance of snow flurries is forecast for the Tri-Cities Tuesday evening by the National Weather Service.

But it is unlikely to turn the ground white except at higher elevations, before any precipitation turns to rain by 10 p.m. Tuesday.

The chance of rain overnight through 10 a.m. Wednesday morning in the Tri-Cities is 40 to 50 percent and temperatures could climb to 53 through the day.

High temperatures should be in the 50s most days through Saturday, with a high of 59 possible Thursday.

Travelers Tuesday night on Interstate 90 over Snoqualmie Pass should be prepared for snow.

New snow accumulation of 10 to 14 inches is forecast overnight, with precipitation turning to heavy rain on Wednesday.

A winter weather advisory is in effect from Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday evening for the east slopes of the Cascade Mountains.

Travelers heading east on Interstate 84 through Oregon also can expect snow with 4 to 8 inches possible Tuesday night and 1 to 3 inches accumulating on Wednesday at Meacham in the Blue Mountains.
