This year's Pride Parade came to a city already bursting with visitors and good vibes thanks to the 2026 World Cup.

People stood shoulder-to-shoulder several deep along Fourth Avenue's curbs and sidewalks to celebrate Sunday. Over the past 50-plus years, the annual celebration has grown into one of the largest Pride parades in the country.

Grand marshals this year were queer activist DeAunt'e Damper and members of the Seattle Torrent women's hockey team.

The event comes amid backlash from segments of the nation opposed to LGBTQ+ causes, and under a presidential administration that has worked to ban transgender people from military service, removed the Pride flag from Stonewall National Monument and moved to restrict gender-affirming care.

In a corner of the U.S. that's often seen as a refuge for the LGBTQ+ community, Seattle parade attendees were bedazzled in every hue of the rainbow.

Watching from the sidewalk, Lay Morgon said she liked seeing the drag queens.

As for the parade itself: It's makes me feel like there's more people here like me," said Morgon, 19, of Seattle, who described herself as bisexual.

Even with a presidential administration that has been antagonistic toward LGBTQ+ issues, state Senate Majority Leader Jamie Pedersen, D-Seattle, said he's optimistic.

"The whole struggle for marriage equality was two steps forward, one step back, over and over and over again," said Pedersen shortly before the parade began. "And I think it is through that process of dialogue that we make progress."

The theme of "Rally was chosen because it "speaks exactly to the power of showing up for one another, of making space for every voice, and of celebrating the joy and resilience that defines us," said Patti Hearn, executive director of Seattle Pride, in a news release.

Police reported no disturbances or arrests along the parade route as of 3 p.m.
