Alaska Airlines launches its first nonstop flight to Reykjavík, Iceland
Alaska Airlines launched its first nonstop flight to Reykjavík, Iceland, out of Seattle-Tacoma International Airport on Thursday evening.
The nonstop flight service to Reykjavík departs daily at 6:35 p.m. and will run until Sept. 7. Return flights to Seattle will be offered until Sept. 8. Travelers will board Alaska's long-range 737-8 MAX aircraft.
A partnership between Alaska Airlines and Icelandair allows guests to book itineraries that combine flights from both airlines under one ticket, according to Alaska's initial announcement in September.
The Iceland route is the airline's newest international destination, debuting after its nonstop services to Rome and London in April and May, respectively. Alaska plans to fly to at least 12 long-haul destinations from Seattle by 2030 as part of its global expansion plans. Last year, the airline introduced nonstop flights to Tokyo and Seoul, South Korea.
