Nobu Bellevue? Famous fusion chain announces Eastside restaurant
Nobu, the famed Peruvian Japanese chain, will open an Eastside expansion next year in the downtown Avenue Bellevue project, a press spokesperson for Silverstein Properties confirmed to The Seattle Times.
Nobu will anchor the two-building development that spans an entire downtown block near the major corner of Northeast Eighth Street and Bellevue Way Northeast. The mixed-use development, owned by Silverstein Properties, features 365 condo units, including some million-dollar-plus units with views of Lake Washington and the Olympics.
Avenue Bellevue will be renamed Nobu Residences Bellevue, anchored by the 10,000-square-foot fine-dining restaurant space.
Nobu is owned by a group that includes its namesake chef, Nobu Matsuhisa, and celebrities like actor Robert DeNiro.
The groundbreaking restaurant, which debuted in Tribeca in New York City in 1994, was instrumental in introducing high-end Peruvian Japanese fusion cuisine in the United States. Its signature black miso cod is one of the most frequently copied dishes at sushi restaurants across America.
