Seattle police investigating death in Madison Park

Seattle police are investigating an apparent homicide after a man's body was discovered Sunday in the Madison Park neighborhood.

Officers responded shortly after 5 p.m. that day to reports of a person lying in a parking lot in the 4000 block of East Madison Street, according to a release from the Seattle Police Department.

The officers found a man with obvious signs of trauma and he was pronounced dead at the scene by the Seattle Fire Department.

Police cordoned off the area until homicide and crime scene investigation units arrived to process the scene. The medical examiner took custody of the body. They will identify the deceased, and determine the cause and manner of death.

Officers are investigating the circumstances leading up to the killing, and anyone with information should call the tip line at 206-233-5000, according to the release.
