Seattle weather for Memorial Day weekend: nice and sunshine-y at first
Plans to hit the great outdoors for Memorial Day weekend?
Looks like the long weekend will be pretty picturesque with plenty of sunshine and warm weather that cools into a few showers in Seattle. That's something nice for everyone.
We'll get a "dry and warmer" start to the weekend Thursday and Friday with temperatures in the low 70s and lots of sunshine with some high clouds, said National Weather Service meteorologist Jeff Michalski.
Maybe you can start out the weekend with a dip to cool off - but beware of beaches where swimming is discouraged because of contamination and the fact that the waters are still cold despite the summerlike heat on land.
Too warm for you anyway? Don't worry about it - put off your hiking until Sunday. The air mass will get cooler, turning temperatures down to the mid-60s, Michalski said.
And if you don't give a hoot about the sunshine and you're thirsty for rain, Monday's your day. Showers and temperatures in the 50s will spread inland from the coast, making for a "cooler and wetter" end of the long weekend, Michalski said.
Whatever weather, whatever plans you're looking forward to this weekend though, watch out for Memorial Day traffic should you be headed out on the highways. You wouldn't want a storm of red brake lights ruining your weekend.
