Police investigating connected stabbing, car wreck in Rainier Valley
Seattle police are investigating a stabbing and hit-and-run that occurred Wednesday night in Rainier Valley.
The two incidents are believed to be connected, Seattle police said in a blotter post.
Dispatchers received a report of a person hit by a car in a lot at the 9100 block of Rainier Avenue South at 10:05 p.m. Police found an unconscious 50-year-old man there. Officers provided aid, and medics transported the man to Harborview Medical Center, police said. His condition is unknown.
Just 10 minutes later, dispatchers received a call reporting a stabbing. Police said that officers arrived at the fire station in the 9600 block of Renton Avenue South and found a 56-year-old man with a slash wound to the neck. He was transported to Harborview and is in stable condition, according to the police blotter.
Seattle police said they determined the two events are connected.
The driver who was stabbed had been sitting in a parked car when a man approached him, stabbed him and walked away. He initially thought he had been slapped but later realized he had been cut, according to the blotter post.
The man drove through the parking lot, struck the 50-year-old man and drove home, where his roommate called 911. The driver will be booked into King County Jail after medical treatment.
Detectives with the Seattle police's homicide and assault unit are leading the investigation, which remains ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call the Seattle Police Department's violent crimes tip line at 206-233-5000.
