Ballard soccer clubs among 5 worldwide to work with Becky G on jerseys
Two soccer clubs in Seattle were selected among teams around the world for a special jersey program, technology company Lenovo announced Thursday.
Ballard FC and Salmon Bay FC will work with Latin Grammy-nominated artist Becky G and young creative directors to design limited edition jersey kits through "Your Club Your Canvas," a global campaign from Lenovo.
Becky G, an investor in Los Angeles-based Angel City FC and global ambassador for the program, will collaborate with the creative directors embedded in each of the teams for the 2026 season to design the jerseys for Ballard FC and Salmon Bay FC - the only teams representing the U.S. - as well as for three other teams in Brazil, China and Italy. The designs will reflect the communities behind each club, including input from players and fans, and will be created using Lenovo AI-enabled devices and tools, according to a Lenovo news release.
The soccer clubs were chosen for their "deep roots in their communities and reflect the diverse role grassroots football plays around the world," according to a release. Particularly, the selected clubs in Seattle have worked to increase access and representation for women in soccer, with Salmon Bay FC being a "women's team that is fully women-owned and led," the release said. Salmon Bay FC was established in 2024 as a sister team to Ballard FC, which was established in 2021.
All net proceeds from the kit sales will go toward the participating clubs and their club-led initiatives.
"This is more than just redesigning a jersey. It's about putting creative control into the hands of communities who live the story every week," said Becky G in the release. By bringing together tech and AI with emerging creative talent, there's a real opportunity to design the next wave of culture and what community looks and feels like for these grassroots clubs.
