A suspected drunken driver crashed his car and died Saturday night while allegedly fleeing from Kent police.

Kent officers tried to pull the 56-year-old Seattle man over around 9:21 p.m. in the downtown Kent area. The driver refused to pull over and headed north on Washington Avenue, according to a news release.

During the pursuit, the driver lost control of the car at the intersection of West Valley Highway and South 228th Street before crashing into a utility pole. He died at the scene.
