Belltown man killed by three robbers seeking fentanyl, police say

King County prosecutors allege three people were behind a robbery that turned fatal at a Belltown apartment earlier this month, leaving a man dead after their attempt to steal narcotics.

Three suspects, armed, reportedly burst into a Belltown apartment where 41-year-old Jesse Finney was allegedly processing drugs April 9. He was shot in the head and died at Harborview Medical Center, and another person was assaulted during the robbery, authorities say.

Prosecutors charged Bradley Allen Might, 27, with first-degree murder in the course of another crime and robbery. During an arraignment Monday, he pleaded not guilty. He is being held in the King County Jail in lieu of $3 million bail.

Two other suspects have not yet been charged.

The three men planned to steal two kilos" of fentanyl from an apartment at 2400 4th Ave., according to charging documents. Might was allegedly armed with an assault rifle during the robbery, during which he used the rifle to hit a person in the apartment and stole his belongings, according to the charging documents. In the upstairs loft of the apartment, Might told investigators, he heard a gunshot from downstairs and continued to look for money before fleeing, charging documents state.

The person who was assaulted called 911, reporting three strangers entered his home and shot Finney in the head. One fired 9 mm cartridge case was found near Finney, according to the probable cause documents.

Investigators saw a desk in the apartment that appeared to be used to process drugs, and found a backpack with various drugs inside it, according to charging documents. The man who survived told detectives he allowed Finney, a friend, to use his apartment to sell narcotics.

He reported he heard the downstairs door open and unknown voices yelling "Where is the money?" He described his assailant as having "wild" gray eyes.

The man said he could not see the other two other attackers from the upstairs loft, but he heard a single gunshot from downstairs before the trio left.

The next day, officers responded to a 911 call from a property manager who reported being threatened with a knife for asking occupants of a car to leave the property's parking lot, according to charging documents. Might and another man were in the vehicle, according to documents.

The other man told officers that Might had claimed he was involved in the Belltown shooting the day prior, according to charging documents.

Might was arrested and told officers that two men asked him to join a robbery and steal fentanyl. Might said he agreed, and during the robbery he went upstairs to the loft while the other two men stayed downstairs, according to the charging documents.

While in the loft, Might told officers, he heard one of his partners yell, "He has a gun, and then a gunshot rang out.

Police recovered a 9 mm Glock from bushes where he said the men tossed the weapon, according to charging documents.
