Man, 72, killed in Marysville collision with semitruck

A 72-year-old man was killed in a Marysville collision Wednesday afternoon.

The Lake Stevens man was in the passenger seat of a 2006 Toyota Avalon when the driver lost control of the vehicle around 12:44 p.m. on Highway 9 near 84th Street Northeast. The Avalon went into the northbound lane and was hit by a semitruck.

The driver of the Avalon was also injured and taken to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett.

Trooper Kelsey Harding, a state patrol spokesperson, said that the rainy weather was a contributing factor and that the crash was accidental.

The driver of the semi was uninjured.
