The body of John Walsh, the 14-year veteran city employee, was found in the same location where he was last seen entering the water on June 13, according to a press release from the city of St. Helens.

Officers from the St. Helens Police Department responded at about 5:18 p.m. Saturday to reports of a dead body in the water at the town's docks. With help from the Columbia County Sheriff's Office, Oregon State Police and Columbia River Fire and Rescue, the remains were recovered.

Earlier in the day, the city of St. Helens held a procession in honor of Walsh during the annual Kiwanis Community Parade.

Walsh's time in St. Helens included serving on the League of Oregon Cities board of directors and the Oregon City/County Management Association Board and being involved in the Columbia Business Alliance and the Columbia Pacific Economic Development District.
