Fundraiser created to support young Winlock woman who suffered stroke
An online crowdfunding campaign has been established to help Amanda, the sister of recent Winlock High School graduate Jasmine Shepherd, who recently suffered a stroke.
Amanda and her family have lived in Winlock their whole lives, according to the GoFundMe.com campaign launched to support her.
Amanda, 21, had very little medical history prior to the stroke, and was overall in good health, according to family.
That changed last Sunday afternoon, when she suffered a major stroke. What began as a normal day quickly turned into a medical emergency that none of her family could have anticipated, her GofundMe reads.
The stroke has left her facing a long and challenging road to recovery. In addition, she is also dealing with medical expenses, rehabilitation costs and time away from work. Everyday tasks have become difficult, and she is working hard every day to regain her strength and independence, according to the online campaign.
The donation goal is set for $3,500 to cover any medical bills and living expenses.
"We need our community's help," Shepherd said. "We hope that not only her word gets out, but it sends a message to all of our friends and family and community members to prioritize health, and you can never be too safe."
"Throughout this difficult time, my sister has shown incredible courage and determination. She is surrounded by family and friends who love her deeply, but the financial burden of ongoing care and recovery is overwhelming," Sydnee Ecklund stated on the GoFundMe page. "No amount is too small, and every contribution will make a meaningful difference."
