The following are criminal cases heard recently in Skagit County Superior Court:
VIOLATION OF NO-CONTACT ORDER
A 64-year-old Mount Vernon man pleaded guilty Monday to six charges.
According to court records, Thomas Duane Warner pleaded guilty to second-degree malicious mischief and five counts of violating a no-contact order.
On Dec. 31, 2024, Warner as found to be in the company of a woman who had a protection order against him.
Records state that prosecutors will recommend a prison sentence of five years when Warner is sentenced June 25.
The crimes to which Warner pleaded guilty occurred in 2024 and 2025.
In exchange for his guilty pleas, Warner had four other charges dropped.
TAKING A VEHICLE
A 40-year-old Mount Vernon man was sentenced to 93 days in jail after pleading guilty Monday to second-degree taking of a vehicle without permission.
According to court records, on Aug. 12, 2023, Michael James Moore took a car belonging to another man.
In exchange for his guilty plea, Moore had two other charges dropped.
POSSESSION OF A FIREARM
A 40-year-old Burlington man was sentenced to 30 days in jail Monday after pleading guilty to second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm.
According to court records, on Feb. 3, 2024, Gary Deonta Shelby was found to be in possession of a firearm.
Because of a past conviction, Shelby is not allowed to possess firearms.
In exchange for his guilty plea, Shelby had three other charges dropped.
DUI
A 26-year-old Mount Vernon man was sentenced to 90 days in jail Monday after pleading guilty to driving under the influence and attempting to elude a police vehicle.
According to court records, on March 15, 2025, Jose D. Soltero was spotted by Sedro-Woolley police driving at speeds in excess of 100 mph.
Soltero initially failed to yield to a traffic stop, then pulled over.
Breath analysis showed he was intoxicated.
DISORDERLY CONDUCT
A 27-year-old Everett man was sentenced to 90 days in jail Monday after pleading guilty to disorderly conduct.
According to court records, on Oct. 10, 2025, Carlos Garcia-Scott got into an altercation with a woman in Mount Vernon.
In exchange for his guilty plea, Garcia-Scott had four other charged dropped.
BURGLARY
A 39-year-old Anacortes man was sentenced to 30 days in jail Thursday after pleading guilty to second-degree burglary and three counts of violating a protection order.
According to court records, on May 3 while Anacortes police were attempting to take Shane Thailin Pearson into custody on several warrants, he and a woman fled from officers.
As they fled, they attempted to hide in a garage and a garden shed.
The woman had a protection order against Pearson.
On May 9, Pearson contacted the woman twice by phone while being held in the Skagit County Community Justice Center.
In exchange for his guilty plea, Pearson had one other charge dropped.
