Lewis County sheriff candidates to appear at two forums this week

Lewis County residents will have two chances to meet the candidates for Lewis County sheriff this week.

Starting on Thursday, June 11, Adna Grocery will host a Lewis County Sheriff candidates meet-and-greet and Q&A event at the Adna Grange on Dieckman Road in a partnership with The Chronicle.

Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. and the event is expected to begin at 6 p.m.

All four candidates for Lewis County sheriff - Tracy Murphy, Danny Riordan, Matt McKnight and Gabriel Frase - are expected to attend.

Two days later, on Saturday, June 13, the Lewis County Republican Party will host its own meet-and-greet and Q&A event at the Olympic Gym in Chehalis. The event will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, and, once again, all four candidates are expected to attend.

The two events are the first public forums for the sheriff's race since candidate filing week at the beginning of May.

The race has changed since the previous candidate forum hosted by The Chronicle at Jester Auto Museum at the beginning of April.

At the time, Murphy, Riordan and McKnight were joined by former member of the Lewis County Sheriff's Office Kenneth Cheeseman.

Cheeseman, however, terminated his campaign during filing week.

In another surprise to the general public, current Lewis County Sheriff's Office Special Services Chief Gabriel Frase registered for the ballot.
