Wednesday: Gnat Creek Campground Trail

Drive 80 miles round-trip to hike an easy 3 miles along Gnat Creek in Astoria to the fish hatchery and back.

Saturday: University Falls Loop

Drive 150 miles round trip for a strenuous hike on the University Falls Loop on the Story Burn Trail through a Douglas-fir forest recovered from the "Tillamook Burn." This hike is 7 miles with 600 feet of elevation gain.

June 17: Capitol Lake

Drive 140 miles roundtrip for an easy hike of 4.6-plus miles on a level path around the lake.

June 19: Ramona Falls

Drive 184 miles roundtrip for a moderate hike for 7.1 miles roundtrip with 1,046 feet of elevation gain.

This is a moderate hike that requires crossing the Sandy River over a log. The hike will follow the Ramona Falls Trail (vs. the Pacific Crest Trail) through the forest to Ramona Creek.

The falls are stunning and a must-see. A $5 day pass, a Northwest Forest Pass or an America the Beautiful pass is required for each vehicle.

June 24: Powell Butte

Drive 110 miles round-trip, hike for an easy 4.5-mile loop with 500 feet of elevation gain through a large meadow on top of a volcanic cone. On a clear day, we will be rewarded with excellent views of Mount St. Helens, Mount Hood and Mount Adams, as well as southeast Portland.

June 27: Vernonia Banks Bike Ride

Drive 60 miles roudtrip for a group cycling activity. Starting at the Vernonia end of the trail, the group will bike halfway to Banks and back, for a total of 20 miles. The trail is paved and mostly flat.
