Tumwater mayor makes Pride Month, America250 Year proclamations during council meeting

Tumwater Mayor Leatta Dahlhoff made a pair of proclamations to begin the regular Tumwater City Council meeting on Tuesday, June 2, at Tumwater City Hall.

The first was the LGBTQIA2S+ Pride Month proclamation, officially declaring June Pride Month in the Thurston County city. Tumwater Equity Commission member Sarah Ellison, along with a friend of hers who recently moved to Tumwater, were on hand to accept the proclamation on behalf of the LGBTQ+ community.

Along with thanking the city for the proclamation, Ellison also invited community members to the second annual Tumwater Pride, scheduled on June 20 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the ASHHO Cultural Community Center, located at 5757 Littlerock Road SW, suite #4, in Tumwater.

Following the Pride Month proclamation, another was made celebrating the nation's 250th birthday coming up next month on July 4 - declaring the entire year of 2026 as America250 Year in Tumwater.

On hand to accept the proclamation were members of both the George Rogers Clark Chapter of the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) and the Sacajawea Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR).

Both the SAR and DAR are nationwide, non-political affiliated and nonprofit service organizations made up of the ancestors of those who fought in the American Revolutionary War.
