The event is hosted by the Cowlitz Valley Runners to honor the memory of the late Kelso dentist, husband and father who unexpectedly died while jogging the Pacific Way Trail in 2024.

The event also honors fathers and families of all types, according to an event notice.

The running group describes Pond in a notice as a "beloved member of our community whose love for family, recreation and dedication to making a difference touched the lives of all who knew him."

The event is scheduled for 7:30 a.m. to noon on June 20, starting at Martin Dock at Longview's Lake Sacajawea.
