Corey Allen Raymond, 39, of Woodland, accepted a plea deal with Cowlitz County prosecutors, pleading guilty to second-degree manslaughter and avoiding the higher charge of second-degree murder in the death of David Pfleger, 27, also of Woodland.
Cowlitz County Superior Court Judge Thad Scudder agreed to proceed with the plea deal and sentenced Raymond to three years and nine months, plus 18 months of community custody. He would also have to register as a firearm offender.
Cowlitz County prosecuting attorney Jacob Lervold said that Raymond shot the victim twice from the front.
Those in attendance in the Cowlitz County Jail court gave an audible gasped in reaction to the length of the sentence.
"Not a day goes by that I don't think about it," Raymond said about the crime.
Pfleger's mother, Sandy Walker, gave a statement over Zoom, saying in a shaky, emotional voice, "He took my baby from me." She said Raymond had "ruined my life."

Taryn Walker, the victim's sister, also gave a statement before the court via Zoom, saying, "There is not a single day I don't think of him."
According to the arrest document, on Dec. 7, 2023, police responded to the 1100 block of South Pelkin Road after Raymond called 911 to report that the victim, David Pfleger, 27, of Woodland, his sister's boyfriend, was reportedly refusing to leave the property and was making threats.
While on the phone with the dispatcher, Raymond told Pfleger to get away from him multiple times and that Pfleger tried to take his phone.
During the interaction, Raymond told the dispatcher, " This f***king psycho needs to f**king die. That's what needs to f**king happen."
Raymond told the dispatcher that Pfleger had him cornered in the kitchen; he could be heard saying, "Let's f**king do this," and then pulled a Ruger .380 caliber pistol from his pocket, racked the slide, and fired three shots, two of which struck Pfleger's torso, the document stated.
The report says Raymond declined to provide CPR to Pfleger after he shot him, the report stated.
After reviewing the 911 call, the authorities noted that Raymond didn't sound afraid but instead sounded angry as the call went on, and that Pfleger was annoying Raymond but made no threats.
