Film production to temporarily close Walla Walla streets this week

Downtown streets and areas surrounding Pioneer Park will close temporarily this week as a national commercial production team films in Walla Walla, the Walla Walla Valley Chamber of Commerce announced.

The production, coordinated through Film Walla Walla Valley, will bring more than 75 cast and crew members to Walla Walla June 3-4. Chamber President Arlene Alen said the team is filming a series of commercials for Firestone Tires.

Along with street closures, community members may notice production vehicles and filming activity during the production window.

On Wednesday, June 3, Main Street between Second Avenue and Colville Street will close from 3 a.m. to 10 p.m. Main Street between Second and Third avenues will close from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m., and Second Avenue from Rose to Alder Street will close from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m.

On Thursday, June 4, Division Street between Pleasant and Alder Street and Sasayama Drive between Alder and Whitman Street will close from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. No parking will be permitted along those stretches. Vehicles must be moved before 7 a.m.

Officials said the production is expected to generate local economic activity through hotel stays, catering, restaurant use and transportation services.
