Authorities investigate shooting that injured juvenile in College Place

Law enforcement officials are investing a shooting that occurred on Tuesday, May 19, that injured a male juvenile near Washington State Route 125 and Taumarson Road in College Place.

The victim, whose age was not released, was taken by private vehicle to Providence St. Mary Medical Center in Walla Walla after he was shot, according to a Walla Walla Regional Drug/Gang Task Force news release.

No details were released about the victim's injuries, but the news release said he was in stable condition.

Authorities said they are searching for a suspect and that investigators do not think the shooting was a random act of violence.

"At this time, the Walla Walla Regional Drug/Gang Task Force does not believe there is an ongoing threat to the public," said Task Force spokesperson and Walla Walla police Sgt. Logan Morris.

Officers from the College Place Police Department, Walla Walla Police Department, Walla Walla County Sheriff's Office and the Washington State Patrol responded to the scene about 7 p.m. Tuesday to reports of a shooting.

By the time they arrived at the scene, the victim had already been taken by private vehicle to the hospital.

State Route 125 was closed in the area from about 7 to 10:30 p.m. while police investigated.

Officials did not release any additional information, except that the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with any information is asked to call the WWPD at 509-527-4434.
