Public comment sought for Clark County parks plan

May 20-Clark County is seeking public comment on the draft 2026-32 Parks and Nature, and Lands Capital Improvement Plan.

The proposed six-year plan includes major maintenance projects, recreation enhancements at existing parks and the development of new parks. Projects in the plan address the needs identified in the 2022 Parks, Recreation and Open Space Plan adopted by the county council in April 2022.

New projects and programs in the draft plan include: recreation and access enhancements at Klineline Pond at Salmon Creek Regional Park; access improvements at Hazel Dell Community Park; recreation facility improvements at Pacific Community Park; access improvements at 78th Street Heritage Farm; design and development of a neighborhood park in the Mount Vista and Minnehaha neighborhoods; plan updates for Lewisville Regional Park and Hockinson Meadows Community Park; and recreation and access improvements at Whipple Creek Regional Park.

The draft plan is available on the county website. Comments are due by June 19 and can be emailed to pwparksprojects@clark.wa.gov.

Projects in the capital improvement plan are funded by park impact fees, real estate excise taxes, grants and the county's general fund.
