Winlock woman injured in crash caused by another driver's failure to stop at sign
May 18-A Winlock woman was injured in a Sunday night crash caused by a driver exiting Interstate 5 at state Route 505 who failed to stop at a stop sign, according to the Washington State Patrol.
Patricia A. Joehnk, 40, was transported to Providence Centralia Hospital after the crash, which occurred at about 8:05 p.m. Sunday.
Elijah J. Cooper, 28, Centralia, was traveling southbound on I-5 when he took the exit for state Route 505. Joehnk was traveling north on 505. Cooper failed to stop his vehicle at the stop sign and struck Joehnk's vehicle.
A passenger in Joehnk's vehicle, a 15-year-old boy, was not injured. Both of them were wearing seat belts.
Cooper, who was not wearing a seat belt, is expected to face potential charges of second-degree negligent driving and operating a vehicle without insurance, in addition to the seat belt citation.
