OnPoint Credit Union honors Woodland High School, Kelso counselor

Woodland High School was one of five schools to win OnPoint Community Credit Union's 2026 Prize for Excellence in Education Community Builder award, the credit union announced Wednesday.

The school will receive a prize of $2,000 to use for a special project of its choice. According to the press release, it plans to use the funds to take students on field trips to trade schools, community colleges and universities to explore their post-secondary education options.

OnPoint also named Coweeman Middle School counselor Kali Dalton as one of eight finalists for its 2026 Educator of the Year award.

Dalton was selected for the Gold Star category, which includes pre-kindergarten and substitute teachers, school counselors, librarians, principals and school administrators. The award also has categories for teachers in grades K-5, 6-8 and 9-12.

Coweeman Middle School counselor Kali Dalton is one of eight finalists for OnPoint Community Credit Union's 2026 Educator of the Year award. Four winners will have their rent or mortgage paid for one year.

One winner from each category will have their rent or mortgage paid for a full year and receive $2,500 for their schools. The runner-up in each category will receive a $5,000 cash award and a $1,500 donation to their school.

Winners are scheduled to be announced May 20.

OnPoint is based in Oregon and serves Oregon and Southwest Washington. Its Prize for Excellence in Education program has awarded over $1 million to local educators and schools since 2010, according to a press release.
