Wenatchee City Council to discuss banner applications Thursday

The Wenatchee City Council has scheduled a special meeting on Thursday before their regularly scheduled meeting to discuss the banner application process that ended up excluding Pride banners that would normally be displayed in June.

The roundtable discussion is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. before the start of the regularly scheduled city council meeting at 5:15 p.m at Wenatchee City Hall, 301 Yakima St. in Wenatchee.

The Wenatchee World will host a live broadcast at wenatcheeworld.com.

No public comment will be taken at the special meeting, but a public comment session always opens each city council meeting.

The city of Wenatchee in October began work on its own new application, given that the old process was not specific enough and would need to be updated, said interim city administrator Edgar Reinfeld. Reinfeld is also the chief of police for the Wenatchee Police Department.

A complication around NCW Equity Alliance's application for the usual banners delayed the complete processing of their application in March when the applications opened up, and another organization applied for banner display in their stead a little over 24 hours later.
