Friday's SVC Roundup: Cardinals baseball team wins pair of one-run games
MOUNT VERNON - The Skagit Valley College baseball team beat Douglas 4-3 and 7-6 on Friday in a Northwest Athletic Conference North Region doubleheader.
In the first game, the Cardinals scored a run in the 11th inning on a sacrifice fly by Ikko Kashima to post the win.
Skagit Valley's Austin Engels was 3-for-5, Kai Douglas 2-for-6 with a run scored, and Travis Beam 2-for-4 with a run scored.
Cardinals starting pitcher Kieran Markusen allowed two earned runs over 6 1/3 innings. He gave up eight hits and one walk, while striking out five.
In the second game, Skagit Valley scored a run in the bottom of the ninth inning on a single by Douglas to post the win.
Douglas was 2-for-6 with a run scored and an RBI, while Derek Feltner was 2-for-2 with a run scored and two RBI.
Skagit Valley starting pitcher Andrew Hernandez allowed two earned runs in six innings. He allowed six hits and four walks while striking out five.
The Cardinals are 9-19 in North Region play and 10-33 overall.

SHORELINE - The Cardinals fell to the Dolphins in a Northwest Athletic Conference North Region game.
Skagit Valley's Kaelin Blakely was 3-for-4 with a double, a run scored and an RBI, Melanie Anderson 2-for-4 with a run scored, and Camdyn O'Neal 2-for-4 with two doubles.
O'Neal pitched five innings, allowing six runs on five hits and eight walks while striking out three.
The Cardinals are 6-20 in North Region play and 6-24 overall.
