As part of the plea deal with Cowlitz County prosecutors, Teel, 52, of Kelso, will receive a concurrent sentence after pleading guilty to four of his original 14 criminal charges, but he has to register as a sex offender upon release from prison.

He pleaded guilty to one count of first-degree dealing in depictions of minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct and three counts of first-degree possession of depictions of minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct.

He could face a prison sentence ranging from over seven years to nearly a decade.

Teel, whose bond was revoked by Cowlitz County Superior Court Judge Jill Karmy, has a sentencing hearing scheduled for June 17.

Arrest

Teel was arrested on Jan. 13 during a traffic stop as he left his home in Kelso after multiple referrals from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and a report from an electronic service provider suspected him of uploading and sharing sexual images of minors.

The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received tips from Kik, a social media app known for its anonymity because users are not required to join with a valid email address.

Still, investigators obtained subscriber records and internet data that linked the reported illegal activity to an address in Kelso belonging to Teel, according to arrest records.

During a police interview, Teel admitted to uploading and possessing the illegal content, but he said he didn't know the images were of children, the report continues.

Teel was suspended from the White Pass School District, which covers Randle, Packwood, and Glenoma, after his arrest.

He was also the elementary principal at Toutle Lake School District from 2022 to 2023.

He worked at Napavine School District from 2013 to 2015 and at Centralia School District from 2015 to 2020, court records show.
