A Link Transit bus caught on fire Thursday afternoon at the park-and-ride near Norco in East Wenatchee.

A Link Transit bus burst into flames Thursday afternoon at the East Wenatchee Park-and-Ride next to Norco while the driver was on break.

The Wenatchee Valley Fire Department responded to a call of a Link bus on fire at around 4:45 p.m. at the 300 block of Rock Island Road. When crews arrived, they discovered the front of the bus completely engulfed in flames, according to Chief Brian Brett.

Firefighters quickly knocked down the fire and prevented it from spreading to nearby buildings, including the Norco facility and an adjacent break room.

Crews contained the blaze to the bus, which sustained significant damage, Brett said.

The bus was one of Link Transit's electric vehicles and was not plugged in or charging at the time of the fire.
