Pierce County motorcyclist dies in three-vehicle crash near Alder Lake Park
A Spanaway motorcyclist died Saturday following a three-vehicle collision on state Route 7 near Alder Lake Park, according to the Washington State Patrol (WSP).
Dennis A. Corrigan, 67, was wearing a federally compliant helmet at the time of the collision, troopers said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Next of kin have been notified.
According to WSP, Corrigan was riding a 2009 Harley-Davidson northbound on Route 7 near Pilgrim Road at about 9:20 p.m. April 25 when he struck a southbound 2025 Ford Bronco driven by Matthew D. Strout, 28, of Ovilla, Texas.
The Bronco was then struck by a southbound 2015 Mitsubishi Lancer driven by Blaine M. Gariepy, 24, of Lacey.
Neither Strout nor Gariepy were injured in the collision. Both were reportedly wearing seat belts.
The motorcycle came to rest on the northbound right shoulder, according to WSP.
The other vehicles came to rest in the southbound lane.
In its incident report, WSP indicated the cause of the initial collision was under investigation, but noted that no drugs or alcohol were involved.
Troopers said the roadway was blocked for four hours and 40 minutes.
It was the second fatal motorcycle crash near the same location in a week. Joint Base Lewis-McChord resident Tanner J. Trolinder, 19, was pronounced dead at the scene of a motorcycle crash in the same area on Saturday, April 18.
