Vancouver's first In-N-Out Burger is set to open Thursday.\

The beloved California burger chain announced the opening date for its newest location at 13511 S.E. Third Way Wednesday morning, almost two years after In-N-Out submitted planning documents to the city of Vancouver.

2. Final pin hasn't dropped at Allen's Crosley Lanes

Don't count on Allen's Crosley Lanes closing anytime soon.

The 71-year-old bowling alley at 2400 E. Evergreen Blvd. went up for sale in 2018. But none of the numerous offers made to the Allen family, the longtime owners of the bowling alley, have panned out.

4. Sovereign is ilani's new beef hot spot

The regally named Sovereign will replace Michael Jordan's Steak House as the high-end dining option at ilani in Ridgefield. The steakhouse served its last meal at the casino resort on Saturday.

Sovereign, slated to open May 19, will continue to offer choice cuts of American beef such as Wagyu, filet mignon, New York strip steak and ribeye as well as Northwest seafood and regional produce, said Kara Fox-LaRose, president and general manager of the casino resort, which is owned and operated by the Cowlitz Indian Tribe.

4. Southwest Washington officials, environmentalists urge Perez to vote against amending Endangered Species Act

Local officials and environmental advocates have urged U.S. Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez, D-Skamania, to vote "no" this week on a House bill they said would decimate federal protections for endangered wildlife.

The House is expected to vote Wednesday, which also happens to be Earth Day, on the ESA Amendments Act of 2025 (HR 1897), sponsored by Republican Arkansas Rep. Bruce Westerman.

5. 'A major overhaul': Vancouver officials near approval of comprehensive growth plan update

Vancouver officials are less than six weeks away from final approval of the plan that will guide the city's growth over the next 20 years.

The Vancouver Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on the comprehensive plan update and related land-use codes April 28, and the Vancouver City Council is slated to hold a public hearing with possible adoption June 1.
