Vancouver business owner Lukas Bardue to run for Clark County Council
Vancouver native and local business owner Lukas Bardue has entered the race for Clark County Council. In a news release, Bardue said he will challenge incumbent Glen Yung for the District 1 council seat in the August primary.
Bardue, 45, said his campaign will focus on the interconnected priorities of mental health support, affordable housing and public safety.
He said these issues must be addressed together to build a stronger, more resilient community.
"I grew up here, built my business here, and I care deeply about the future of Clark County," he said in the news release. "We're facing complex and critical issues. People deserve leadership that listens, works across boundaries, and puts solutions ahead of politics."
After years working in the freight and logistics industries, Bardue founded Freight Trac Services in Vancouver during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The race for a seat on the county council is growing quickly even though filing week, when candidates officially declare a run for office, isn't until May. Although Yung hasn't yet announced his candidacy, he has posted information about his reelection campaign on social media.
Fellow Vancouver business owner Bryan Shull recently announced his run for the District 1 council seat.
