Charges filed against Walla Walla man accused of assaulting baby

A 27-year-old Walla Walla man arrested last week on suspicion of assaulting a 3-month-old child has been charged with five Class A felony charges.

Dallas Fletcher-Granger is charged with five counts of first-degree assault of a child. The formal charges were filed on Friday, April 17, according to court documents.

The victim, who is Fletcher-Granger's three-month-old daughter, suffered bruising on her face and both sides of her skull were fractured, according to the probable cause affidavit submitted by the Walla Walla Police Department.

Officers were called to the emergency department at Providence St. Mary Medical Center on Wednesday, April 15, because of the girl's injuries.

The girl was transported by helicopter to Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane for treatment, according to documents. The girl also had fractures on her arms.

According to the affidavit, the parents of the girl initially said the girl had suffered the injuries during a fall.

However, evidence presented in the affidavit suggest that Fletcher-Granger struck the girl in the head with a closed fist. He was arrested April 15.

As of Wednesday, April 22, he was in custody at the Walla Walla County Jail on $500,000 bail. Walla Walla defense attorney Robin Olson was appointed to defend him.

On Friday, April 17, the Walla Walla County Prosecuting Attorney's Office notified the court that it would seek an exceptional sentence in the case, which is a sentence outside the common sentencing guidelines.

Fletcher-Granger is scheduled back in court for his arraignment on Thursday, April 23.
