Property taxes are now payable at the Cowlitz County Treasurer's office, and the first half of 2026 property taxes are due April 30.
According to a press release from the Cowlitz County Treasurer, the office offers residents multiple ways to pay, but some carry higher fees than others.
Here's a rundown of the methods to pay from lowest to highest, plus instructions on how to submit your payment.
The treasurer's office charges no fees for mailed or dropped-off payments.
Drop boxes are located at the north and south entrances of the Cowlitz County Administration building at 207 N. Fourth Ave in Kelso and outside the treasurer's office in Room 202.
A drive-up drop box is located in the building's north parking lot.
Payments accepted at the drop boxes are checks, cashier's checks and money orders. The treasurer's office asks residents not to pay by cash in the drop box.
Fees apply to electronic payments and phone payments.
Online "e-check" or electronic fund transfers using a bank account's routing number are charged a flat $2 fee. Credit or debit cards are charged 2.4% with a minimum processing fee of $2.
