Clark County candidates for elective office can file to run beginning May 4

On May 4, Clark County will open its filing period for candidates who want to run for elective office.

Offices on the upcoming ballot include federal, state and local positions. The county is encouraging candidates to file their declaration online at VoteWA.gov beginning at 8 a.m. May 4 through 5 p.m. May 8. The county will hold an in-person filing period from at 8 a.m. May 4 to 5 p.m. May 8. Candidates for federal or state positions may file in person at the Secretary of State's office in the Legislative Building, 416 Sid Snyder Ave. S.W., Olympia. Candidates for a county race may file in person at the Clark County Elections Department, 1408 Franklin St., Vancouver.

Primary and special elections will be held Aug. 4, and the general election will be held on Nov. 3.
