21-year-old dies after ‘tragic mishap’ on electric scooter, WA officials say
A 21-year-old died after a “tragic mishap” on an electric scooter in Washington, officials said.
He was riding on the scooter with another person on the sidewalk at about 2:30 a.m. July 19 when he fell onto the road after losing his balance, the Spokane Police Department said in a July 21 news release.
A semitruck was driving by and hit him, police said.
The semi driver stopped and tried to help, according to police, who said first responders also “attempted life saving measures.”
However, he died, police said.
The county medical examiner identified him as Sean Nolan.
He “was effectively the rear passenger on the scooter,” police said, adding that the other rider fell “back towards the area of the sidewalk.”
The semitruck driver “was cooperative with law enforcement and no signs of impairment were found,” according to police.
