A man found his lost debit card and celebrated by buying a few lottery tickets in Washington.

One ticket won him $480,000.

The lucky lottery player had been shopping at a WinCo Foods in Marysville, Washington’s Lottery said in an April 21 news release.

He got home from grocery shopping and realized he couldn’t find his bank card, lottery officials said.

It turned into a “frantic search” until he found it at the grocery store.

“This must be my lucky day. I should buy some lottery tickets,” he told the lottery office.

His purchases included a HIT 5 ticket that cost him $1.

The man took his tickets home and checked them later that evening, lottery officials said.

It turns out he matched all five numbers on the HIT 5 ticket, winning him nearly half a million dollars.

Lottery officials said he has plans to use the money on a trip to Japan and to the East Coast.

Marysville is about a 35-mile drive north from Seattle.

Many people can gamble or play games of chance without harm. However, for some, gambling is an addiction that can ruin lives and families.

If you or a loved one shows signs of gambling addiction, you can seek help by calling the national gambling hotline at 1-800-522-4700 or visiting the National Council on Problem Gambling website.
