Parents of baby girls still love the name Olivia, but Oliver got bumped out of the No. 1 spot for boys in Washington last year.
The Social Security Administration releases the top baby names in each state each year, and Washington’s most popular baby names listed 102 baby boy names and 103 baby girl names for 2021, according to data released on May 18.
The name Liam ranked No. 1 for baby boy names. The name was given to 402 babies. For girls, Olivia topped the list with 452 babies in 2021.
Baby names for both boys and girls in the top 10 didn’t significantly differ from 2020 to 2021. Names for boys remained the same but ranked slightly different.
Girl baby names didn’t change drastically either. Olivia was the No. 1 baby name for both years.
The data was compiled from Social Security card application data. Washington baby name data dates back to 1960, when the names David and Susan ranked No. 1.
