Washington passes 14,000 COVID-19 cases, reports more than 800 deaths
The Washington State Department of Health reported 228 new COVID-19 cases and 15 additional deaths Wednesday.
Statewide case totals have reached 14,070, while the state’s death toll is now at 801, up from 13,842 cases and 786 deaths Tuesday.
King County continues to be the hardest hit, reporting 6,103 cases and 438 deaths. Snohomish County has reached 2,389 cases and 108 deaths, and Pierce County is reporting 1,401 cases and 51 deaths.
Of the state’s 39 counties, all but Garfield County have reported cases, with Benton (422), Clark (317), Franklin (276), Grant (155), Island (168), King (6,103), Kitsap (148), Pierce (1,401), Skagit (322), Snohomish (2,389), Spokane (353), Thurston (104), Whatcom (294) and Yakima (1,082) all reporting more than 100 cases.
Twenty-two counties have reported at least one virus-related death. All but five of those counties have reported multiple deaths, with Benton (40), Clark (19), King (438), Pierce (51), Skagit (12), Snohomish (108), Spokane (20), Whatcom (28) and Yakima (47) all reporting more than 10.
There are 76 cases that have not been assigned to a county.
There have been 187,800 tests completed in Washington, with positive results at 7.5%.
The DOH is now also giving the public access to downloadable datasets that break down cases and deaths by week, county and age. These datasets are updated each Sunday.
Preliminary data on total hospitalizations for confirmed cases — broken down by admission date, date of illness onset, age, sex and race and ethnicity — is also available.
