Pole comes out of nowhere and nearly impales highway driver, baffling Washington cops
A Washington highway driver was almost impaled by a metal pole that went through the roof of his car, the Washington State Patrol said.
Trooper Rick Johnson tweeted that the driver was “lucky” that he only had a minor cut on his head. The man has been driving on southbound I-5 near South 320th Street when the pole came seemingly out of nowhere.
Johnson tweeted out photos of the metal rod, which had pierced the roof of the car and cracked the windshield.
Authorities still don’t know where the pole came from and encouraged people to contact the Washington State Patrol if they have more information.
Washington criminalizes driving with an unsecured load. The law, called Maria’s Law, is named after Maria Federici, who was injured by unsecured furniture that fell into her windshield from a truck, according to Patch.
