The pros and cons of changing how Richland votes for city council members is the subject of a forum presented by the League of Women Voters of Benton-Franklin Counties.

The program starts at 2 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 12, in the Doris Roberts Gallery Room of the Richland Library, 955 Northgate Drive.

Richland currently chooses its seven council members “at-large,” meaning they can live anywhere in the city.

The approach has led to south Richland residents dominating the city’s top decision-making body for years.

In November, voters will consider changing the city charter to elect some council members from individual districts and some from at large.

The program will feature advocates for each side and questions will be encouraged.
