Farmer and third-party candidate jump into Tri-City races
A Franklin County farmer and a third-party candidate stepped into Tri-City races Wednesday.
Terry Cissne, the owner of Ridgeview Farms, added his name to the growing list of candidates seeking Bob Koch’s spot on the Franklin County Commission. Koch announced that he’s not seeking another term this year.
Cissne is the fourth person to enter the fray. He will compete against Ana Ruiz Ramirez, Rocky Mullen and Cliff MacHugh for a position on the three-person board.
Also, state Rep. Matt Boehnke got his first challenger in his race for the Legislature. Alliance Party Candidate Larry Stanley filed for the position on Wednesday. Stanley made a failed bid for the Richland City Council in 2019.
Prospective candidates have until Friday to file. They must be registered to vote and live in the district they are filing.
The primary election is Aug. 4 and the general election is Nov. 3.
As of mid-day Wednesday, 42 candidates had filed for 21 of the 23 seats up for election this year in the Mid-Columbia.
New additions are in italics. Candidates are added to the list when they file, not when they announce.
