Benton, Franklin counties come out strong for Trump

Benton and Franklin County voters strongly backed Republican Donald Trump for president in Tuesday’s election.

Benton County voters cast 27,189 ballots for Trump and 15,454 for Democrat Hillary Clinton, giving Trump 60 percent of the vote compared to Clinton’s 34 percent in ballots counted Tuesday.

Libertarian Gary Johnson had 2,079 votes, or almost 5 percent of those cast.

Ballots counted in Franklin County showed 59 percent of voters for Trump, 36 percent for Clinton and 4 percent for Johnson. The totals were 5,627 for Trump, 3,460 for Clinton and 381 for Johnson.
