Where do WA politicians, educators and organizations stand on gun violence? We checked for you

The recent spate of deadly mass shootings across the country have led to many taking stronger stances on gun laws, proposing more restrictions and arguing for Second Amendment.

Student-driven protests calling for an end to gun violence have been taking place across Washington state and the nation since the deadly shooting in Uvalde, Texas. This coming weekend on June 11, over 300 coordinated protests will take place across the U.S., including 14 in Washington state. Many are looking to politicians and organizations to make changes.

The youth-led movement known as March For Our Lives is coordinating the events. The group formed after the 2018 Florida school shooting in Parkland that left 17 dead. The organization is “dedicated to promoting civic engagement, education, and direct action by youth to eliminate the epidemic of gun violence,” according to its website.

As the debate rages on gun rights and restrictions, here are some public social media comments from various Washington state politicians, schools and organizations.
