Watch as disheveled bear wakes up at Ukraine sanctuary. ‘If Monday was a bear’
A bear at a sanctuary in Ukraine woke up one morning looking disoriented, disheveled and incredibly relatable. Video shows the rough wake up.
“This is me starting the work week,” White Rock Bear Sanctuary said and shared a video on TikTok and Instagram on Monday, May 8. “We’re all like Chada on Monday.”
The video shows Chada, an endangered Himalayan brown bear, slowly crawling out of her den. She pauses to glance around before continuing. She stands and blinks several times before shaking, video shows.
“If Monday was a bear,” a TikTok user wrote.
“When you wake up after a nap and you don’t know if it’s been 20 minutes or 20 years,” another TikTok user commented.
“Actual footage of me getting out of bed in the morning,” one Instagram user commented.
“Someone get that bear a coffee,” one TikTok user commented.
Chada is a 24-year-old bear that grew up under harsh conditions of a touring circus, according to sanctuary officials. She was eventually sold to a private show that “left her in a small rusty cage” for seven years. Rescuers moved her to a mediocre holding facility before she was brought to the White Rock Bear Sanctuary in Kyiv in 2019, officials said.
Because of her treatment, Chada “has poor eyesight and almost no teeth,” sanctuary officials said. Still, “she became the star of our bear family because of her character and thirst for life.”
