Hunter Biden Tells Candace Owens She's ‘Right On' in Podcast Interview

Hunter Biden, son of former President Joe Biden, is sitting down with Candace Owens, telling the conservative commentator she is "right on," in a trailer for a new episode of her podcast this week.

The interview marks an unusual crossover following years of his legal troubles and public image drawing significant backlash from prominent conservatives. He has long been a lightning rod for controversy among conservatives, frequently discussed but rarely heard from directly in the right-wing media ecosystem. Owens has been among the conservatives who criticized the former president’s son for years.

Hunter Biden, Candace Owens Discuss D.C. Corruption, Charlie Kirk

Owens announced the interview in a post to X on Monday afternoon. In the two-minute preview, Hunter Biden was seen confronting Owens for calling him a "crackhead," to which he said, "the truth of the matter is, I was a crackhead."

He spoke about his marriage falling apart and corruption in Washington, D.C.

"It's not left or right," he said. "The D.C. elite of the left, they crushed my dad because he was never part of that club. He was never part of the Epstein class."

He also defended Owens against criticism toward her remarks about the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

"The criticism of you for asking the questions of someone who was like a brother to you? It's like, what the eff are you talking about?"

He also said he listens to Owens and goes, "right on."

Owens-Biden Interview Draws Intrigue, Criticism

The clip drew intrigue on social media. Former GOP Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene wrote in a post to X that she is "interested" in the interview.

"This what real journalism looks like along with where the political underground of America is moving. Truly fascinating. Everyone I know is so disgusted with the two party system that has completely failed every single American," she wrote.

Tommy Vietor, who served as a spokesperson to former President Barack Obama, was critical of the move, writing, "Hunter Biden whines that the ‘DC elite' criticized his dad because he was ‘never part of that club' … yes, consummate outsider Joe Biden was never welcomed in Washington. Everyone knows that."

Hunter Biden Laptop Scandal Explained

The Hunter Biden laptop scandal, frequently discussed by Owens, began in 2020 when the New York Post published materials it alleged were recovered from a computer left at a Delaware repair shop.

It became a flashpoint for the right, as some media outlets declined to cover it and social media companies did not promote it in their algorithms. Some officials viewed it as a potential Russian influence campaign.

Conservatives alleged the laptop showed proof of corruption on behalf of Joe Biden, then the former vice president. Its contents sparked concerns about the younger Biden’s finances and ties to a Chinese energy company. Conservative media has also used the laptop to spread stories about Hunter Biden’s personal life and drug use.

Furthermore, Twitter‘s alleged suppression of a New York Post story about the laptop ahead of the 2020 presidential election was also the basis of the Twitter files.

The former president's son has endured legal issues in recent years.

Hunter Biden was pardoned by his father before he left office. Preceding that, he was set to be sentenced in two separate criminal cases: a felony gun charge and federal tax fraud. Hunter was convicted of three separate felony charges related to the 2018 purchase of a revolver in June 2024. He also pleaded guilty to nine tax evasion charges in September.

Prosecutors accused him of lying about his status as a drug user when purchasing a firearm in 2018. Section 922(g)(3) of the United States Code says it is against the law for anyone who is an “unlawful user of or addicted to any controlled substance” to possess a firearm.

What Has Candace Owens Said About Hunter Biden Over the Years?

Owens has been a critic of Hunter Biden amid the laptop scandal. In a 2022 interview on Fox News, Owens criticized the media's coverage of it.

"I was confused. Maybe ‘Russian disinformation' means now for The New York Times ‘truth,' given the Hunter Biden laptop scenario,” she said at the time in an interview with Tucker Carlson.

In April 2021, she wrote in a post to X that she believed Hunter Biden was a "DEGENERATE THAT SHOULD BE IN PRISON and our senile-in-chief should be made to answer for why he LIED and said that the laptop was ‘Russian Disinformation.'"
