Kristin Cavallari addresses the arrest of Jay Cutler, the father of her children
Five days after her ex-husband and the father of her children Jay Cutler was arrested, podcast host and business owner Kristin Cavallari has shared a statement.
On Oct. 17, the former NFL star quarterback was arrested following a minor traffic accident in Tennessee. He was charged with driving while intoxicated and possession of a handgun while under the influence, according to jail records obtained by USA Today.
According to WGNTV, Cutler was arrested and booked. He was released later that night after posting $5,000 bond.
E! News reported that Cutler allegedly attempted to “flee the scene” after offering the driver of the vehicle he rear-ended $2,000 in exchange for not involving law enforcement.
Police observed that Cutler’s eyes were “bloodshot,” his speech was “thick-tongued, slurred and mumbled,” and he “had an overwhelming odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from his person” while talking to him, according to the charging document obtained by E! News.
Cutler initially denied drinking any alcohol before eventually admitting he “had a little bit.” E! News reported.

During the latest episode of her “Let’s Be Honest” podcast, Cavallari addressed Cutler’s arrest.
After beginning their relationship in 2013, Cavallari and Cutler eventually got married. They had three kids, Camden, Jaxon and Saylor, before divorcing in 2022.
The former couple shared some of their life together on their former reality show “Very Cavallari.”
Cutler retired from the NFL in 2017 after 12 years in the league playing for the Chicago Bears, Denver Broncos, and Miami Dolphins.
On Oct. 22, Cavallari briefly addressed the situation, saying, that the episode was recorded prior to the arrest. “I do, of course, wish Jay the best and hope he gets the help he needs. But that’s all I will be saying about it publicly.”
Neither Cavallari nor Cutler talk about their co-parenting arrangement often. However, Cavallari did note a recent change in their custody agreement during a previous podcast episode.
During the Oct. 1 episode, the mom of three noted that she was happy to be focusing on her kids and work after recent life changes, which included ending her relationship with TikTok star Mark Estes and the terms of her custody agreement with Cutler changing.
As Cavallari explained, “When I was dating last fall, I was still doing split custody with my ex and I had every other week off from my kids,” Cavallari explained. However, “that’s changed,” she added.
“So, I’m really happy and really content having my life right now being about my kids and my work.”
