A California man’s trip to Las Vegas was life-changing when he won over $500,000 from a slot machine.

The guest was gambling Saturday, Aug. 17, at Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino, the hotel said in a news release.

It was his first time at the casino when he tried out a few different slot machines, the hotel said.

He wasn’t having any luck, so he moved to a Timber Wolf Grand slot machine and hit spin.

By his third spin, which was a $3.75 bet, he landed a bonus feature and a message appeared on the screen saying he had won the jackpot.

Now, he’s $521,212.57 richer.

Another gambler also recently got lucky at a Las Vegas casino.

The Indiana player bet 60 cents on a slot machine at Binion’s Gambling Hall & Hotel and won a much bigger prize, McClatchy News previously reported.

Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino is located just east of the Strip.

Many people can gamble or play games of chance without harm. However, for some, gambling is an addiction that can ruin lives and families.

If you or a loved one shows signs of gambling addiction, you can seek help by calling the national gambling hotline at 1-800-522-4700 or visiting the National Council on Problem Gambling website.
