Powerball player hits $139 million jackpot. Where was the lucky ticket sold?
A Powerball ticket sold in Ohio hit the $139 million jackpot, lottery officials say.
The ticket matched five winning numbers and the Powerball in the drawing Wednesday, July 3, the national Powerball site said. The prize has a cash option of $66.5 million.
The prize now falls to an estimated $20 million, with a cash option of approximately $9.5 million, for the next drawing Saturday, July 6.
The winning numbers were 2, 26, 33, 55 and 57, with a Powerball of 22, the Ohio Lottery site said.
Two tickets sold in California won nearly $400,000, and a ticket sold in Pennsylvania won $1 million.
More than 388,000 people across the United States won prizes ranging from $4 to $50,000, lottery officials said.
A Powerball player in New Jersey hit a $223 million jackpot in the June 10 drawing, marking the last top prize won in the game, lottery officials said.
What to know about Powerball
To score a jackpot in the Powerball, a player must match all five white balls and the red Powerball.
The odds of scoring the jackpot prize are 1 in 292,201,338.
Tickets can be bought on the day of the drawing, but sales times and price vary by state.
Drawings are broadcast Saturdays, Mondays and Wednesdays at 10:59 p.m. ET and can be streamed online.
Powerball is played in 45 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
