Lottery player using family birthdays scores ‘lucky for life’ prize in Massachusetts
A lottery player’s sentimental strategy turned out to be a huge source of luck in southern Massachusetts.
Jacky Huang played his birthday along with his sister’s and uncle’s. The first five numbers on his ticket matched the numbers drawn June 10 in the multi-state Lucky for Life game, Massachusetts lottery officials said in a June 21 news release.
He chose the annuity option when he claimed his prize at the state’s lottery headquarters in Dorchester on June 20 and will receive $25,000 payments before taxes every year for the rest of his life, officials said.
He plans to put his winnings toward his and his sister’s college tuition, officials said.
Huang bought the winning ticket at County Liquor in Southampton, about a 15-mile drive northwest from his home in West Springfield.
