A woman died after being rescued from a Colorado creek near where she was camping, according to city officials.

The woman fell into Boulder Creek in the early morning hours of July 12, the City of Boulder said in a news release. Officials did not identify the woman.

While searching along the creek, a police officer saw the woman and tried to pull her from the water, city officials said.

Shortly after, officials said firefighters arrived on scene and helped pull the woman from the creek bed.

Firefighters performed CPR on the woman before she was taken to a hospital in critical condition, where she later died, according to officials.

The Boulder County Coroner’s Office is investigating the woman’s cause and manner of death.
